CS I

The first computer science course. It starts where students are: files, typing, getting around a computer.

Students prepare for the CompTIA Tech+ certification, and the course ends with the groundwork for Java and AP Computer Science A. It is built to count as the one computer science credit Louisiana will require.

AP Computer Science A

The College Board AP course in Java. Students read, trace and write Java every day, with exam-style practice every week, and sit the AP exam in May. It starts January 2027.

IT Support Technician

The working technician's course. Students troubleshoot and fix computers on the virtual bench, set up networks and operating systems, and run a help desk.

It prepares students for both CompTIA A+ exams, Core 1 and Core 2.

The Benches

Short hands-on practice sets, one for each class day. Every job checks itself as you go: files on a virtual computer first, then reading and tracing code, then Java.

Anyone can try them. Each bench opens here on the day it is taught in class.

Planning for 2027–28?

Next fall's freshmen are the first class that needs a computer science credit to graduate. If your school is working out how to staff it, I would be glad to walk you through the sequence, the sample days and the staffing model.
